About The Position

The Mercer University School of Law Public Service Summer Stipend is designed to support law students who commit to full-time summer employment (at least 8 weeks) in nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies, or other public service offices. The stipend aims to encourage students to gain meaningful experience and to alleviate financial burdens of accepting unpaid public service work.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently-enrolled law student in good academic standing on the date of stipend disbursal.
  • Must secure a full-time summer placement (minimum 8 weeks of at least 30 hours per week) with nonprofit, governmental, or public service organization.
  • The placement must be unpaid or provide only minimal compensation (less than $1,000).
  • The student must demonstrate a commitment to public service.
  • Must have been approved by members of the committee.
  • Complete an Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) and present documentation verifying citizenship or permanent residency.
