About The Position

At Impact NW, we are a nonprofit with a mission to prevent homelessness, believing in the fundamental right to a beautiful life, stability, and peace. We seek individuals who share our values and can contribute their skill sets. The SUN (Schools Uniting Neighborhoods) program aims to create school-based delivery sites for comprehensive services, acting as a support hub that links community organizations with students and families. This role involves teaching after-school activity classes to elementary school students, supervising groups of children, acting as a positive role model, implementing health and safety protocols, and developing curriculum. We encourage staff to teach subjects they are passionate about, offering a variety of classes from STEAM fields and active enrichment activities.

Requirements

• Experience providing academic and recreational activities to students after school.
• Experience working with school-aged children from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Specific area of expertise that you are passionate about and eager to share with students, such as (but not limited to): art, kid's cooking, dance, creative writing, environmental science, foreign language, team sports, etc.
• Ability to provide children with an enriching, positive, and safe classroom setting.
• Possess strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Sensitivity and ability to relate to people from diverse lifestyles, socioeconomic levels, and cultures.
• Must be able to complete and pass an Oregon Background check including fingerprinting prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Teach fall after-school activity classes to elementary school students at Marysville and Whitman Elementary School.
• Supervise groups of 10-15 children, ages 6-11.
• Act as a positive role-model for students.
• Participate in and implement health and safety protocols.
• Develop curriculum for activity classes.
• Share skill sets and subjects of passion with students.
