About The Position
Impact NW is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing homelessness and fostering a future where housing is a human right. The SUN (Schools Uniting Neighborhoods) program aims to create school-based hubs that connect community resources with students and families, offering a comprehensive range of services. This role involves teaching after-school activity classes to elementary students, supervising children, acting as a positive role model, implementing health and safety protocols, and developing curriculum. The organization emphasizes the importance of staff being passionate about the subjects they teach, offering classes in STEAM fields and active enrichment activities.
Requirements
- Experience providing academic and recreational activities to students after school.
- Experience working with school-aged children from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Specific area of expertise that you are passionate about and eager to share with students.
- Ability to provide children with an enriching, positive, and safe classroom setting.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Sensitivity and ability to relate to people from diverse lifestyles, socioeconomic levels, and cultures.
- Must be able to complete and pass an Oregon Background check including fingerprinting prior to start date.

- Passion for subjects such as art, kid's cooking, dance, creative writing, environmental science, foreign language, team sports, etc.
Responsibilities
- Teach fall after-school activity classes to elementary school students.
- Supervise groups of 10-15 children, ages 6-11.
- Act as a positive role-model for students.
- Participate in and implement health and safety protocols.
- Develop curriculum for activity classes.
- Share skill sets and passion for subjects like STEAM, art, cooking, dance, creative writing, environmental science, foreign language, or team sports.
