About The Position

The Extended Coverage Dispatcher manages fleets and related issues during night and/or weekend shifts. The role requires sound independent judgment, thorough documentation, and the ability to perform duties autonomously. The dispatcher communicates with drivers and customers, manages assigned dispatch work, and ensures drivers understand customer and company expectations for each load. The position is based at the Kansas Avenue RTI location in Kansas City, Kansas.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, plus 1–2 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Knowledge of TMW database software, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily, including independent judgment and thorough documentation.

Responsibilities

Communicate with drivers and customers about load information, advances, purchase orders, maintenance coordination, performance counseling, and general company news and information.
Manage assigned dispatch work to support optimum performance.
Track expedited freight and review dispatch sheets to support on-time pickups and deliveries.
Assist with local dispatching, including answering driver calls and helping with load information.
Keep call wait times below five minutes.
Repower loads by helping find a replacement driver when a driver cannot cover a load.
Manage email volume, book freight, and build loads in the TMW system.
Assist Transco Lines extended coverage when needed.
Update customers on loads by email or phone.
Begin working on the next day's freight coverage.
Ensure each driver understands customer and company expectations for each load at dispatch.
Maintain a positive attitude toward drivers and peers.
Perform other duties as assigned by authorized personnel.
