About The Position

Carter Machinery is hiring an Express Lube Technician in Fredericksburg, Virginia, for a weekend shift scheduled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The role involves lubricating machinery, inspecting and servicing fluids and filters, collecting oil samples, recommending services, maintaining supply inventories, and communicating upcoming service needs to customers. Technicians also complete service reports and work orders, operate equipment in the field and at customer job sites, and coordinate with their team to support continuous improvement and a positive customer experience. The position offers a starting compensation range of $34.97–$43.96 per hour, plus shift differential, and advertises a $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires: $2,500 at hire and $2,500 after 90 days of employment. Overtime may be available depending on the role and customer demand.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in a shop service environment.
High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record.
Ability to obtain a CDL or DOT certification.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform job duties at customer job sites with minimal supervision.
Ability to operate a boom truck or equivalent.
Ability to properly use overhead and field service cranes.
Ability to operate a variety of equipment in the field and at customer job sites.
Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office products, and service software.
Willingness to work overtime as required by job and customer demand.
Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear; frequent sitting is also required.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
Vision abilities including close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Lubricate moving parts of machinery using specified lubricants.
Inspect fluid levels in compartments such as engines, hydraulics, and transmissions, including water, oil, and grease.
Inject grease into units using a hand-operated or compressed-air-powered grease gun.
Drain oil and refill machinery with the required amount.
Collect oil samples for testing.
Replace oil and air filters.
Recommend additional services to customers as part of the inspection review process.
Monitor and maintain inventories of oil, filters, and related supplies.
Inform customers of upcoming service due dates and recommend future services.
Work with the team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives.

Complete service reports and provide relevant details for work orders.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
