About The Position

Carter Machinery is hiring an Express Lube Technician in Fredericksburg, Virginia, for a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday weekend shift. The role involves lubricating machinery, inspecting and servicing fluid systems, changing oil and filters, collecting oil samples, and supporting customers with service recommendations and upcoming maintenance needs. The technician also monitors supplies and completes service documentation. Work may be performed at customer job sites with minimal supervision, in coordination with a team and in support of the company’s Continuous Improvement goals and core values. The starting compensation range is $34.97–$43.96 per hour, plus shift differential. New hires may be eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus: $2,500 payable at hire and $2,500 after 90 days of employment, subject to special rules and restrictions for rehires. Overtime may be available or required depending on job and customer demand. The position requires frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, climbing or balancing, and lifting up to 70 pounds. Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in a shop service environment.
High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
Ability to obtain a CDL or DOT certification.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform responsibilities at customer job sites with minimal supervision.
Capability to operate a boom truck or equivalent.
Proper use of overhead and field service cranes.
Ability to operate a variety of equipment in the field and on customer job sites.
Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office products, and service software.
Ability to complete service reports and provide pertinent details for work orders.
Willingness to work overtime as required by the job and customer demand.

Responsibilities

Lubricate moving parts of various types of machinery with specified lubricants.
Inspect fluid levels in compartments including engine, hydraulics, and transmission systems.
Inject grease into units using a hand- or compressed-air-powered grease gun.
Drain oil and refill with the required amount.
Collect oil samples for testing.
Replace oil and air filters.
Recommend other services to customers as part of the inspection review process.
Monitor and maintain inventories of oil, filters, and related supplies.
Inform customers of upcoming service due dates and recommend future service.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Coordinate with the team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives.
