About The Position

Ensures a safe environment for children at play within the Explorium. Provides a variety of support to the Exhibits Program including safeguarding building entrances/exits, answering questions from the public, and installing/dismantling exhibit structures and props. This is a seasonal/temporary position not to exceed 122 days. Schedule: Wednesday through Sunday. Schedule subject to change based on business needs. Shift #1: 10:00 am-5:00pm Shift #2: 1:00pm- 9:00pm Shift #3: 4:00pm - 12:00am

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills.
• Strong teamwork skills a must.
• Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs.
• The employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. Extended periods of standing and walking involved.
• The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move moderate to heavy objects, which require frequent and proper bending.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Will work in a fast-paced environment in both indoor and outdoor areas during all types of weather.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud, particularly when working outdoors or in an exhibit building.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with the layout and facilities of the OC Fair & Event Center highly preferred.
• Previous experience working with children in large numbers a plus.

Responsibilities

• During events, safeguards exhibits and watches over children/families enjoying the Explorium.
• Sets up and puts away play items and toys on an ongoing basis.
• Provides information about the exhibit to the public and answers questions about the exhibit, the event and the property.
• May clean a variety of exhibit structures and props, prepares them for use, and installs them where instructed.
• May be asked to administer contests on stage and assist children with games
• Dismantles competitive exhibits and returns entries to the public at the end of the event.
