Experienced GM / Chevrolet Heavy Line & Medium Duty Technician
About The Position
Melloy Chevrolet in Los Lunas, New Mexico is hiring an experienced Heavy Line / Medium Duty Automotive Technician to join our Chevrolet Service Department. We are looking for a real diagnostic and repair technician with experience in major mechanical repair, including engines, transmissions, electrical diagnosis, drivability, diesel repair and complex vehicle troubleshooting. Melloy Chevrolet is also a Chevrolet Medium Duty dealer, providing opportunities to work on Chevrolet passenger vehicles, light-duty trucks, HD trucks, commercial vehicles and medium-duty trucks. This is not an entry-level or quick-lube technician position. We're looking for someone who can take a difficult vehicle concern, diagnose the actual cause and complete the repair correctly. Our ideal technician is comfortable with work including: Engine diagnosis and major engine repair, Gasoline and diesel engine repair, Engine removal and replacement, Internal engine repairs, Transmission diagnosis and repair, Transmission removal and replacement, Advanced electrical diagnosis and repair, Wiring and electrical troubleshooting, Drivability diagnosis, Check-engine-light and warning-light diagnosis, Fuel and ignition system diagnosis, Starting and charging systems, Cooling system diagnosis and repair, Steering and suspension diagnosis, Brake system diagnosis and repair, Scan-tool diagnostics, Manufacturer warranty repairs, Complex mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. We aren't simply looking for someone who can replace parts. We need a technician who can diagnose why the part failed and determine the right repair. Melloy Chevrolet isn't limited to passenger cars and light-duty pickups. As a Chevrolet Medium Duty dealer, our service operation supports retail, commercial, fleet and medium-duty truck customers throughout Central New Mexico. Experience with medium-duty trucks, commercial trucks, fleet vehicles, diesel engines, work trucks, chassis cab vehicles, HD pickups or vocational vehicles is highly valuable. Technicians with backgrounds in medium-duty truck repair, commercial truck repair, diesel diagnosis, fleet maintenance or heavy mechanical repair are strongly encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Professional automotive or truck repair experience
- Comfortable performing major mechanical and diagnostic work
- Strong engine repair experience
- Transmission repair experience
- Diesel diagnostic and repair experience
- Medium-duty or commercial truck experience
- Strong electrical diagnostic skills
- Advanced drivability diagnostic skills
- Experience with professional scan tools and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical service information
- Ability to diagnose the root cause of vehicle concerns
- Ability to complete major repairs efficiently and correctly
- Professional automotive tools
- Valid driver's license
- Strong work ethic and commitment to quality repairs
