About The Position

Safelite is hiring an experienced Auto Glass Technician, with placement at the Technician, Senior Technician, or Master Technician level based on experience, qualifications, technical capabilities, and certifications. The role provides vehicle glass repair, replacement, and recalibration services at a Safelite Shop or Mobile Glass Shop, with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and customer service. Senior and Master Technicians may also serve as technical resources and support technician development through coaching, mentoring, and sharing best practices.

The position involves using specialized tools, technologies, chemicals, diagnostic equipment, and company systems; safely operating company and customer vehicles; and communicating with customers in person, by text, and by phone. Technicians are expected to clean customer vehicles after jobs, promote relevant services and items, comply with company policies and standards, and perform other duties as assigned. Work may be outdoors in varied weather and temperatures, and schedules require flexibility in start and end times to accommodate customer needs.

Requirements

• Technician: Typically 1 or more years of vehicle glass installation, repair, replacement, recalibration, or closely related automotive service experience.
• Senior Technician: Typically 3 or more years of vehicle glass experience, demonstrated technical proficiency and quality performance, and ability to work independently.
• Master Technician: Typically 5 or more years of vehicle glass experience, advanced technical expertise, and demonstrated mentoring, coaching, or training capability.
• High school diploma or GED/equivalent preferred.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, work in tight spaces, and bend and twist the body.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and agreement to monitoring through in-cab vehicle safety camera/video surveillance technology.
• Professionalism and commitment to outstanding customer service and exceeding customer expectations.
• Ability to work outside for extended periods in varied weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
• Ability to work with chemicals, including flammable chemicals, as applicable to the Safelite Way of Fitting.
• Ability to work scheduled days with flexibility in start and end times to meet customer needs.
• Proficiency using computerized diagnostic tools for recalibrations and troubleshooting.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, both independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret English and technical directions.
• Ability to communicate orally by phone and in writing via computer or other electronic means.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and comply with company uniform and PPE policies.
• Ability to maintain stable performance under professional or personal pressure, including time pressure and productivity measures.

Responsibilities

• Provide vehicle glass repair and replacement services at a Safelite Shop or Mobile Glass Shop efficiently, with an emphasis on safety, quality, and customer service.
• Clean customer vehicles after each job.
• Recalibrate automotive safety systems, troubleshoot issues, and complete diagnostic testing.
• Operate Safelite tools and technologies, including True Seal®, Ezi-Wire™, Glass Table System (GTS), applicable chemicals, work order and customer administration systems, and Mobile Resource Management (MRM) technology.
• Safely operate company and customer vehicles throughout the workday.
• Communicate with scheduled customers in person, by text, and by phone; present, promote, and sell Safelite promotional items and services.
• At Senior and Master Technician levels, serve as a technical resource, support technician development, share best practices, and assist with coaching and mentoring.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
