About The Position

The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) provides chair-side clinical support to dentists and hygienists and helps deliver a welcoming, patient-focused experience. The role includes patient education, preparing and cleaning operatories, taking and processing X-rays, carrying out procedures as directed by the dentist and hygienist, maintaining patient treatment plans and files, and sterilizing equipment and operatories. The position supports efficient scheduling and helps patients understand how to maintain their oral health.

Requirements

Advanced Dental Assistant certification, such as EFDA, EDDA, or EFODA.
Radiology certification required for compliance with the State Dental Board.
Excellent time-management and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and dental software.
Excellent communication skills and commitment to partnering with all team members.

Nice To Haves

At least 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant.
Experience with Dentrix.

Responsibilities

Provide chair-side clinical support to dentists and hygienists through charting, patient education, and operatory setup and cleanup.
Deliver a superior patient experience throughout each appointment.
Take and process X-rays.
Perform procedures as directed by the dentist and hygienist while maintaining a productive, efficient schedule.
Enter patient treatment plans and maintain patient files.
Complete sterilization processes for equipment and operatories.
Educate patients on the importance of oral health and how to maintain it.
