Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)
About The Position
Valley Pediatric Dentistry is hiring a full-time Expanded Functions Dental Assistant or Dental Assistant to provide compassionate care in a positive, fast-paced, child-friendly environment. The role supports the practice’s mission to create fun and educational dental experiences while delivering high-quality care. Team members work alongside supportive doctors and may use their full scope of skills. Travel between pediatric locations in Carlisle, Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, and Camp Hill is required as needed; a travel stipend may be available depending on the schedule. The position involves preparing and comforting pediatric patients, supporting dental procedures, carrying out restorative and preventive tasks, maintaining clinical areas and records, and following safety and infection-control standards. The listed salary is $22.00–$30.50.
Requirements
- Active Pennsylvania EFDA license or graduation from a Dental Assistant program.
- Current CPR certification; in-house training is available.
- Valid Pennsylvania X-ray license.
- Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and compassionate care.
- Ability to travel between pediatric locations in Carlisle, Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, and Camp Hill.

- Experience with Open Dental software.
- Previous pediatric dental experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and comfort pediatric patients for procedures.
- Take diagnostic radiographs.
- Set up, clean, and maintain treatment rooms and sterilization areas.
- Place, contour, and finish fillings.
- Assist with sealants and fluoride applications.
- Provide coronal polishing and oral hygiene education.
- Deliver post-operative instructions and contribute to smooth clinical flow.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Uphold OSHA, HIPAA, and infection-control standards.
- Travel between pediatric locations in Carlisle, Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, and Camp Hill as needed.
