Exercise Specialist - Mountlake Terrace
About The Position
IRG Physical & Hand Therapy is seeking motivated Exercise Specialists interested in pursuing careers in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, or another healthcare profession. The role offers hands-on clinical experience in a supportive, collaborative environment focused on professional growth and making a meaningful impact on patients and communities. Exercise Specialists assist patients with therapist-prescribed exercise plans and therapeutic modalities, while helping establish and maintain positive relationships and a strong patient experience. The position is based at an IRG facility and includes patient care support, clinic upkeep, and use of electronic medical records and other clinic systems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate body mechanics, functional movement, and exercises.
- Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA laws and compliance regulations.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, squatting, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday; lifting up to 35 pounds; demonstrating exercises; and properly transferring patients.
- Ability to work at an IRG facility and provide personal transportation to and from the work site.
- Ability to perform custodial duties using medical-grade cleaning products.
- Ability to work for extended periods at a video display terminal and use a keyboard.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Sciences, or another related field.
- Customer service or patient-facing experience.
Responsibilities
- Guide patients through therapist-prescribed exercise programs.
- Assist with therapeutic modalities and treatment setup.
- Provide encouragement and education to help patients achieve their goals.
- Prepare, maintain, and clean a safe clinical environment.
- Build positive, professional relationships with patients.
- Use electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinic systems.
- Transfer patients using proper body mechanics while maintaining patient safety.
- Perform custodial duties, including cleaning bathrooms, laundry, and disinfecting exercise equipment.
- Use a keyboard and video display terminal to enter and gather information.
