About The Position

Piedmont Mountainside is seeking a dedicated Exercise Physiologist to support the growth of its Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Care team. The position provides hands-on patient care and requires accurate, complete documentation in accordance with charting procedures. The Exercise Physiologist participates in program education, conducts assessments and orientations, contributes to individualized treatment plans, and supervises and evaluates participants during exercise sessions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Human Performance, Adult Health & Fitness, or a related field.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
No work experience required.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Human Performance, or Adult Health & Fitness with a concentration in cardiac health.

Responsibilities

Document patient care accurately and completely according to charting procedures.
Participate in program educational efforts, classes, and individual sessions.
Conduct initial assessments and orientations for new participants.
Assist other staff members in developing individualized treatment plans.
Apply exercise science knowledge to people with cardiac and pulmonary disease and other potential comorbidities.
Develop and regularly adjust individual exercise prescriptions based on GXT, patients’ daily responses in rehabilitation, and physician recommendations, with assistance from nurses and respiratory therapists.
Supervise exercise sessions and monitor participants for inappropriate responses to exercise.
Measure EKG, oximetry, heart rate, and blood pressure.
Assess participants before, during, and after exercise, making appropriate referrals and/or recommendations to participants, other staff, and the Medical Director.
