About The Position

Corewell Health Wayne Hospital is seeking an Exercise Physiologist to provide all aspects of phases I – III cardiac rehabilitation. Under general direction, the Exercise Physiologist will develop, implement, and evaluate exercise prescriptions and sessions for cardio/pulmonary rehab and other chronic illnesses. This role involves creating educational materials and providing education to patients. The position also includes planning and participating in special patient events, writing/research, professional conferences, the student internship program, specialized programmatic service lines (e.g., Cardiovascular Performance Clinic, cardiac rehab referral intake, marketing), and departmental improvement initiatives. The role requires extensive knowledge of cardiac risk factors and effective care management for Phase II patients. Additionally, the Exercise Physiologist will supervise cardiovascular stress tests, provide services like Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP), and manage holter and event monitors.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or related field.
• Current BLS Certification- required upon hire
• ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist or AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional within 1 year of employment.

• 2 years of relevant experience
• A minimum 2 years’ experience or successful completion of a 600-hour clinical internship in the cardiac rehab setting may be required dependent on job location within the system.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support- preferred (may be required at specific sites)

Responsibilities

• Provides all aspects of phases I – III cardiac rehabilitation.
• Develops, implements and evaluates exercise prescriptions and exercise sessions for all phases of cardio/pulmonary rehab as well as other chronic illnesses.
• Creates educational materials and provides education both cardio/pulmonary patients and other patients referred to the cardiac rehab program.
• Plans and participates in special patient events, writing/research endeavors, professional conferences, the student internship program, specialized programmatic service lines (ie, Cardiovascular Performance Clinic, cardiac rehab referral intake, cardiac rehabilitation marketing, etc.), and/or departmental improvement initiatives related to the department.
• Provides all aspects of care management to the Phase II patients in an effective, timely, inspirational manner.
• Supervises cardiovascular stress tests for individuals with and without chronic disease in order to obtain reliable and valid data.
• Provides other services such as Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) and holter and event monitor placement.
