About The Position

Under direct supervision of a licensed medical professional, the Exercise Physiologist prepares patients and equipment for treatment. They assist the therapist in administering treatment to patients of varying ages ranging from infancy through late adulthood.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology
  • Less than 1 year of clinical practice
  • Knowledge of and ability to assess clients and design exercise programs to enhance physical fitness, to promote health by reducing the risk of developing chronic disease and to ensure safety during exercise sessions.
  • Knowledge of the prevention and treatment of intentional or unintentional injuries, ability to implement emergency procedures in accordance with appropriate safety plans.
  • Knowledge of the human body's reactions and changes under acute and chronic exercise conditions, ability to measure, assess and adapt physiology during exercise.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic methods and skills to develop, maintain and restore the optimal movement and functional ability of clients/patients, ability to skillfully deploy methods and skills in therapeutic cases to enhance the quality of life.
  • Knowledge of the theories and methodologies for therapeutic progress assessment, ability to assess therapeutic progress to achieve therapeutic goals and ensure patient safety.
  • Knowledge of and ability to provide or facilitate rehabilitation services to manage injuries and help injured people reclaim living or working capabilities.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Develop exercise programs to improve participant strength, flexibility, endurance, or circulatory functioning, in accordance with exercise science standards, regulatory requirements, and credentialing requirements.
  • Lead established exercise/rehab maintenance groups.
  • Prescribe individualized exercise programs, specifying equipment such as treadmill, exercise bicycle, ergometers, or perceptual goggles.
  • Interpret exercise program participant data to evaluate progress or identify needed program changes.
  • Analyze quantitative data to determine effectiveness of treatments or therapies.
  • Prepares the treatment area, equipment and supplies relating to patient treatment for all division services to expedite the delivery of patient care.
  • Calibrating and maintaining exercise or testing equipment and demonstrating correct use of exercise equipment or performance of exercise routine.
  • Communicates impressions and objective information in a clear and timely manner to pertinent stakeholders to insure efficient coordination and optimal outcomes information.
  • Participates in the department’s performance improvement program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
