About The Position

Corewell Health Wayne Hospital is seeking an Exercise Physiologist to provide all aspects of phases I – III cardiac rehabilitation. Under general direction, the Exercise Physiologist will develop, implement, and evaluate exercise prescriptions and exercise sessions for all phases of cardio/pulmonary rehab as well as other chronic illnesses. This role involves creating educational materials and providing education to both cardio/pulmonary patients and other patients referred to the cardiac rehab program. The position also includes planning and participating in special patient events, writing/research endeavors, professional conferences, the student internship program, specialized programmatic service lines (e.g., Cardiovascular Performance Clinic, cardiac rehab referral intake, cardiac rehabilitation marketing), and/or departmental improvement initiatives. The Exercise Physiologist will be extremely knowledgeable of cardiac risk factors and provide all aspects of care management to Phase II patients effectively and inspirationally. Additionally, the role involves supervising cardiovascular stress tests for individuals with and without chronic disease to obtain reliable and valid data, and providing other services such as Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) and holter and event monitor placement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or related field.
  • Current BLS Certification- required upon hire
  • ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist or AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional within 1 year of employment.

  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • A minimum 2 years’ experience or successful completion of a 600-hour clinical internship in the cardiac rehab setting may be required dependent on job location within the system.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support- preferred (may be required at specific sites)

Responsibilities
