About The Position
The Exercise Physiologist BS position at the Heart & Vascular Specialists Clinic is a full-time role focused on delivering patient care through the Exercise Physiologist Process. This involves performing various stress tests, assessing patient health risks, developing individualized exercise programs, and providing patient education to improve functional capacity and reduce cardiovascular risk factors. The role also includes administrative support, ensuring proper documentation, and collaborating with the lab manager for equipment maintenance. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology or related field (required)
- BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support maintained every 2 years and within 90 days of Hire (required)
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 Days of Hire (required)
- Possess advanced knowledge of cardiac rhythms, EKG interpretation, equipment used in stress testing, knowledge of the cardiovascular system, and adhere to patient safety goals
Nice To Haves
- EKG experience (preferred)
- 3 months experience in Cardiac Rehab (preferred)
- CCES - Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist Upon Hire (preferred)
- RCEP - Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist Upon Hire (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Exercise Physiologist Process.
- Preps patients and performs regular stress tests, as well as nuclear PET/CTs.
- Assesses patient health risks, needs, and interests.
- Supervises exercise and pharmacologic stress tests, including preliminary test interpretation.
- Conducts fitness evaluations in accordance with testing guidelines and assists in the development of comprehensive individualized exercise programs.
- Develops exercise prescriptions/programs tailored to the unique needs of the cardiovascular patient in accordance with the diagnosis and orders from the provider.
- Provides instruction necessary for the safe and effective performance of exercise activities, and promotion of secondary prevention to individuals who are limited by cardiac disease to improve functional capacity and lower cardiovascular risk factors.
- Demonstrates competence in the performance of age-appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age-specific needs.
- Competent in the use of obtaining accurate HR, BP, RR, and cardiac rhythm.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the setup and operation of all monitoring and exercise equipment.
- Plans, implements, evaluates, and documents patient education.
- Completes all documentation and written communication in a timely manner.
- Works with the lab manager to maintain proper maintenance of testing equipment, and reports any malfunctions.
- Seeks assistance/supervision/consultation as needed and reports to supervisor any problems and/or solutions regarding patient care or status of equipment.
- Notifies physicians in a timely manner of problems or pertinent complications.
- Provides administrative support as needed, including assisting patients with receiving phone calls, providing information on cardiac rehab services, and assists in scheduling appointments.
- Proficient in correct billing, charging, and procedure documentation.
- Documents according to department guidelines as well as all unusual occurrences to system, hospital, and department guidelines.
- Assists with quality control procedures.
