The Exercise Physiologist will deliver care to patients utilizing the Exercise Physiologist Process. This includes assessing patient health risks, needs, and interests, and assisting the RN with patient assessment and the development of individualized exercise programs. The role involves supervision of exercise and pharmacologic stress tests, including preliminary interpretation, and conducting fitness evaluations. The Exercise Physiologist will develop exercise prescriptions tailored to the unique needs of cardiovascular patients, provide instruction for safe exercise performance, and promote secondary prevention to improve functional capacity and lower cardiovascular risk factors. Competence in age-appropriate patient treatment, cardiac telemetry, obtaining vital signs, and the setup and operation of monitoring and exercise equipment is essential. The role also includes patient education, documentation, maintenance of testing equipment, and ensuring a safe environment. Administrative duties include assisting patients with registration, handling phone calls, providing information on services, and scheduling appointments. Maintaining patient rights, proficient billing and charging, and routine communication via email are also key responsibilities. Documentation according to department guidelines for Cardiac Rehab members, unusual occurrences, and quality control procedures are required. Professionalism involves participating in strategies to meet business initiatives, attending in-services and meetings, and adhering to hospital and department policies.
