Executive Vice President of Emergency Response & Preparedness

About The Position

Based in San Antonio, Texas, the Executive Vice President of Emergency Response & Preparedness is a senior operational leader for a fully funded, mission-driven nonprofit emergency management organization. The role runs the operational efforts of the response enterprise, serves as second-in-command to the President, and is part of succession planning for the top job. It is a high-profile, high-tempo position intended for a mid-career leader and is explicitly not a 40-hour role for someone winding down a career. When disasters occur, the organization deploys medical teams, shelters, mobile command, and a reservist force of roughly 1,000 professionals, with capacity to scale beyond that for major events. The organization focuses on serving communities without needing to pursue contracts to maintain operations. The successful candidate will assume day-to-day operational decision-making, lead activations and deployments, strengthen organizational and reservist readiness, and build confidence among the board, partners, and customers as a credible successor to the President.
