About The Position

Under the direction of the College President and with input from the RCBC foundation board, provides leadership to manage, supervise, and coordinate college fundraising, and alumni programs and activities. The involvement of alumni is an area that needs reconstructive building and strategic oversight for the future of the College and the foundation. The Executive Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to foundation fundraising, implementing new and creative ways to increase awareness and fundraising opportunities, developing and maintaining initiatives that align with RCBC’s strategic plans and continuously build and maintain donor relationships.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum 5 to 7 years of successful fundraising experience for a nonprofit organization which includes the following:
Progressive fundraising experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility
Proven ability to develop and implement fundraising special events and projects
Experience with budget planning and management.
Understanding of various gift instruments, estate planning, trust administration, gift planning strategies, and related tax laws.
Supervisory experience demonstrates the ability to lead, collaborate, coordinate, evaluate and supervise staff.
Ability to communicate persuasively, orally and in writing, the importance of philanthropy and the mission of the college.
Ability to be self-motivated, self-starting, energetic and creative.
Demonstrated successful experience with planning major events.
Ability to work effectively with leaders in business, industry and government.
Knowledge of planned giving and tax implications for individuals and corporations who make gifts.
Proven ability to develop, analyze and administer budgets.
Knowledge of public (federal, state, and local) and private funding sources.
Ability to be flexible and responsive to varying scenarios.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to cultural diversity.

Responsibilities

Oversee foundation staff supporting college scholarships and works in partnership with the College for scholarship distribution.
Manage the daily operations of the foundation by developing strong trustees for the foundation board.
Handles day to day tasks of the foundations like monthly meetings and minutes, trustee scorecards and trustee stewardship.
Maintain accurate and prompt records for foundation operations.
Develop opportunities for funding of special projects and contributions to the College foundation with local businesses and industries.
Manage and oversee all fund-raising activities and events.
Fundraising initiatives as decided by the foundation board and the College President.
Emphasis paid to donor development and fundraising, alumni and social media outreach and other administrative tasks.
Helps to recruit, orient, and manage a Board of Directors.
Plans and attends all meetings of the Foundation Board of Directors and its committees and is responsible for preparing agendas, support materials, minutes, and financial reports.
Manage and oversee the foundation budget including the management of all funds and other assets belonging to the foundation, including scholarship accounts.
Ensure the board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all-important factors influencing the foundation.
Meet annual fundraising goals established by the President and the foundation board.
Responsible for donor solicitation and prospect cultivation of corporate, foundation and individual major gift opportunities
Provide oversight to recruit external funding sources in the private and public sector.
Assure that gifts are administered to honor the donors’ intent, investment policies, scholarship criteria, foundation by-laws, audit requirements, tax requirements, state requirements for charitable organizations, and college policies in collaboration with other appropriate departments.
Oversees the Foundation's scholarship process, including coordination with the Colleges financial aid office and accurate recordkeeping.
Remain current on fundraising trends, ethics, laws, community fundraising events, national programs and fundraising activities within the region and nationally.
Conduct and manage special projects as directed by the President.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.
Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
