About The Position

The University of Mary Washington (UMW) invites applicants to apply for the position of Executive Director for Technology Operations, a senior technology leadership role reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer. This position serves as the operational leader for the University's Information Technology organization and plays a critical role in advancing UMW's technology strategy, service excellence, and digital transformation initiatives. The Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership across enterprise technology operations while serving as the CIO's principal advisor on operational matters. The successful candidate will lead a diverse team responsible for: Enterprise networking and telecommunications, Data center and cloud operations, IT service management and customer support, Endpoint computing and digital collaboration services, Audio visual technologies, Business continuity and disaster recovery, and Technology infrastructure planning and operational excellence. Working collaboratively with campus leadership, the Executive Director will oversee the delivery of secure, reliable, and innovative technology services supporting academic, administrative, and research missions across multiple campuses.   • Demonstrated experience managing enterprise networking, communications services, data center operations, cloud environments, and technology infrastructure.
  • Experience overseeing large-scale technology service delivery organizations and customer-facing support operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technology budgets, procurement activities, contract negotiations, and vendor relationships.
  • Experience developing technology lifecycle strategies, operational roadmaps, and modernization initiatives.
  • Progressively responsible professional experience in audiovisual systems management.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant training/experience.
