About The Position

The Executive Director of Procedural Services is responsible for direct oversight of all fiscal operations and clinical integrity for General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, CRNAs, and other assigned services. This role involves the administration of clinical and fiscal surgery operations, development and execution of annual operating and capital budgets, and optimizing surgery room efficiency. The Executive Director serves as a business and clinical liaison with Surgery groups, evaluating and sharing cost and quality data. They supervise and evaluate work activities to improve service utilization and establish objectives and evaluative/operational criteria. The Executive Director manages the operational effectiveness of the services to maximize patient experience, staff collaboration, and net revenues while minimizing costs. Key objectives include reducing clinical and operational variability, improving patient flow efficiency, increasing consistency in surgery start times and turnover, enhancing training for surgery techs, optimizing order set usage, improving patient, employee, and physician satisfaction, minimizing costs per procedure, aggressively negotiating with vendors for optimal contract terms, and maximizing the favorability of patient outcomes. The role also involves improving efficiencies within assigned services and assisting with compliance of contractual agreements, licensing rules, and government reporting requirements. As a strategic business leader, the Executive Director develops business strategies and directs core strategic and operating planning processes. Operationally, they ensure services provide a high level of service, quality, and accessibility at the lowest possible cost, while increasing patient and employee satisfaction. They improve operational efficiency by designing and implementing processes and programs to achieve key operational strategies. The Executive Director provides leadership to ensure appropriate volume and financial growth and sustainability. They act as a liaison for general and orthopedic surgeons, fostering partnerships and seeking their guidance. The role facilitates effective collaboration between surgeons, anesthesiologists, professional staff, and administration, ensuring transparency in financial, quality, and operational metrics. As a financial leader, they enable services to achieve goals while maintaining a competitive cost structure. As a change leader, they partner with Singing River Health System leaders to facilitate change, ensuring services remain competitive and effective. This position holds leadership and management responsibility over all functions within assigned services, developing and overseeing high-quality, cost-effective, and integrated clinics, departments, services, and programs. All duties are expected to be performed in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accrediting organization, and governing guidance and publications for healthcare employees.

Requirements

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical area of study.
  • Current, unencumbered MS license / certification(s) for applicable clinical license.
  • BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
  • De-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); appropriate level of de-escalation training.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of senior management experience in healthcare administration required.
  • Keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities.
  • Superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations.
  • Ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
  • Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and seek guidance as need to clarify assignments or request for more information.
  • Basic business skills, an understanding of general financial operations and major AR goals in the healthcare environment.
