About The Position

Selective Insurance Company of America is hiring an Excess & Surplus Division Underwriting Trainee through its Momentum program. Momentum is a nine-month program for professionals combining classroom learning, business rotations, and on-the-job training. Training begins in July 2027 with eight weeks at the corporate headquarters in Branchville, New Jersey, before trainees return to their regional offices. Upon completion, trainees transition to full-time roles in underwriting and other business areas. The trainee will learn to underwrite renewal business and administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, insurance laws, and regulations. The role also develops techniques for providing service and guidance to accounts.
