About The Position

The Excavator Operator operates machines and equipment at a recyclery, landfill, or transfer station. The role includes inspecting, operating, monitoring, cleaning, and performing minor service on equipment, as well as documenting equipment condition and reporting needed repairs. Operators follow safety procedures and help ensure equipment is properly cleaned, serviced, and stored at the end of each shift.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in equipment operation.
• Valid training certificate(s), as required, for use of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operation and post-operation equipment inspections and ensure windows, lights, mirrors, and rear-view cameras are clean.
• Operate equipment—including excavators, compactors, bulldozers, forklifts, and front-end loaders—using proper techniques.
• Monitor waste for signs of unacceptable materials.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Continuously monitor equipment to ensure proper operation and minimize downtime.
• Clean equipment tracks or wheels.
• Perform and document minor equipment service.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report necessary repairs to a supervisor and/or Maintenance Shop.
• Complete other required forms.
• Ensure equipment is properly cleaned, serviced, and stored at the end of each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
