About The Position

This role is responsible for performing residential sewer/water line repairs and replacements, often involving the use of heavy machinery. The Excavation Lead will supervise and direct excavation crews, ensuring site preparation, trenching, and earthmoving tasks are completed efficiently and safely. This position requires a strong understanding of excavation safety standards, the ability to operate heavy equipment, and excellent leadership skills to manage daily work schedules, resource allocation, and crew training.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate excavation machinery

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct excavation crews to perform site preparation, trenching, and earthmoving tasks.
  • Coordinate daily work schedules and resource allocation to optimize productivity and meet project deadlines.
  • Ensure all excavation activities comply with OSHA safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Inspect excavation sites regularly to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures promptly.
  • Collaborate with Sewer Specialists to interpret plans and technical specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment usage, and incident reports.
  • Train and mentor crew members on best practices, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
  • Manage equipment maintenance schedules and report any operational issues to management.
  • Completing excavations for residential sewer/water line repairs/replacements, including but not limited to cutting and assembling pipe and fittings.
  • Perform manual labor in confined spaces and open trenches.
  • Backfill and clean up after the sewer is reassembled.
  • Interact with customers as needed.
