About The Position
The Excavation Laborer is an essential member of an excavation crew responsible for performing manual digging, grading, and site preparation tasks. This role supports heavy equipment operators and ensures work areas are clean, safe, and ready for construction or utility installation.
Requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding labor for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and job site safety practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality.
- Must be able to pass background check and drug screen upon offer of employment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in construction or excavation preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Dig, spread, and level dirt, gravel, and other materials using hand tools (shovels, picks, rakes).
- Assist in trenching and backfilling operations.
- Support equipment operators by clearing debris and maintaining safe work zones.
- Perform fine grading and detail work where machinery cannot reach.
- Locate and expose underground utilities carefully (hand digging when required).
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the job site.
- Follow all safety guidelines and wear required PPE.
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors.
