About The Position

Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Cook County is hiring an Excavation Laborer to join its sewer and water line crew. The role involves outdoor work digging and backfilling trenches for sewer and water line repairs and replacements, both by hand and with equipment. The employer offers coaching and training to the right person.

The position reports to the office at 30 Martin Lane, Elk Grove Village, and work sites are throughout Cook, Lake, and McHenry Counties. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Saturday, with shifts usually 7:30 a.m.–4 p.m. or 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Pay is $18–$35 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

• Able to perform physical outdoor work in all seasons.
• Able to lift 50–100 pounds.
• Reliable transportation to the Elk Grove Village office by 7:30 a.m.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Dig and backfill trenches for sewer and water line repairs and replacements, by hand and with equipment.
• Help set up job sites with safety gear, shoring, barricades, and cones.
• Load, unload, and clean tools, materials, and equipment.
• Restore sites by backfilling, compacting, raking, and cleaning up.
• Work alongside plumbers and follow safety rules on every job.
