About The Position

The EVS Technician works on the front lines of infection prevention at Medical City Decatur. The role involves daily contact with patients and clinical staff and uses specialized janitorial tools and techniques to support a safe, clean, healing environment and a positive patient experience. The technician performs routine manual cleaning and care of assigned areas, including patient-care and therapy areas, public assembly areas, halls, foyers, offices, and restrooms. Duties may also include work in the linen room and waste handling. The technician uses cleaning products, equipment, and protective gear to clean and disinfect areas; removes trash, dirty linen, and sharps containers from designated locations; and follows established procedures for the safe disposal of infectious and hazardous waste. The position is PRN. No travel or prior experience is required.

Requirements

Good communication skills, including the ability to speak and understand written and spoken English.
Ability to work and cooperate with team members and other departments as necessary.
No prior experience required.

Nice To Haves

Healthcare or service-related industry experience is highly preferred.
Experience working with hazardous waste materials is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform routine manual cleaning and care of assigned areas, including linen-room and waste-handling tasks as applicable.
Clean and disinfect patient rooms, offices, restrooms, public areas, and other requested locations using appropriate products, equipment, and protective gear.
Clean and care for public assembly areas, patient-care and therapy areas, halls, and foyers.
Remove trash, dirty linen, and sharps containers from designated locations in and around the hospital.
Follow standard procedures for safe disposal of infectious and hazardous waste materials.
Work cooperatively with team members and other departments to support infection prevention and patient experience.
