About The Position
The EVS Tech I is a member of the Environmental Services Department, which helps keep the hospital clean and safe for patients, staff, and visitors. The role cleans and sanitizes hospital areas, including patient rooms, offices, waiting areas, and meeting rooms, and maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. The technician performs daily cleaning and disinfection, supports infection prevention, and helps ensure timely room turnover to promote patient flow. The position contributes to patient safety, quality care, and a positive patient experience while providing courteous service to people throughout the facility.
Requirements
- No prior experience is required.
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and PPE protocols and properly handle waste and hazardous materials.
- Provide courteous service to patients, visitors, and staff.
Nice To Haves
- Related experience is preferred.
- 1–2 years of customer service experience.
- 1–2 years of hospitality experience.
- 1–2 years of Environmental Services experience.
Responsibilities
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain patient rooms, common areas, and assigned equipment according to healthcare and infection prevention standards.
- Perform occupied, discharge, and transfer room cleaning to support patient safety and timely room turnover.
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and PPE protocols, including proper handling of waste and hazardous materials.
- Maintain cleaning equipment, carts, and supplies according to department standards.
- Identify and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Assist with training and mentoring new EVS team members as assigned.
- Complete required documentation accurately and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Attend department meetings, huddles, and team activities to support patient experience and operational excellence.
- Perform specialty cleaning and other Environmental Services duties as assigned.
