About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician I (EVS I) performs daily duties to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The role involves contact with patients, visitors, and clinical and non-clinical staff, with interactions appropriate to the demographics of patients served in assigned service areas. The position is full-time on the second shift (midday), with listed full-time schedules ranging from 32 to 40 weekly hours (0.8 to 1.0 FTE).

Requirements

Prefer completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Safely and properly lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Safely and properly pull, push, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and stretch.

Responsibilities

Complete timely patient-room turns in support of patient throughput and environmental hygiene and infection-prevention principles.
Empty trash, clean trash cans as needed, and replace liners.
Remove infectious waste and fill sharps containers as needed.
Damp-dust furniture, ledges, and fixtures using a germicidal agent.
Dry-mop and wet-mop floors and vacuum carpeting.
High-dust vents, over-bed lights, and other items above shoulder height.
Operate several types of vacuum cleaners and other miscellaneous cleaning tools.
Wear required personal protective equipment when needed, including rubber gloves, eye protection, gowns, booties, masks, and hair covers.
Perform other assigned duties, including alternate EVS aide responsibilities as needed.
