About The Position

Assist with the coordination and execution of campus events by supporting IT staff and event organizers with basic A/V and technology setup, event support, and equipment handling. This student position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event operations, technology, customer service, and live production while working under the guidance and supervision of experienced IT staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup, operation, and teardown of A/V and IT equipment for campus events under the direction of IT staff or event supervisors.
  • Assist with monitoring A/V equipment during live events, including microphones, projectors, sound systems, and other A/V accessories, and notify IT staff of issues as they arise.
  • Provide basic on-site event support by assisting event staff and participants with routine technology needs and referring technical issues to IT staff or supervisors when additional assistance is needed.
  • Communicate with event staff, faculty, and IT supervisors regarding event needs, schedules, equipment requests, and issues, with guidance from assigned supervisors.
  • Assist with inventory, equipment maintenance, and storage by helping organize, transport, clean, and properly store equipment according to established procedures.
  • Follow established safety and equipment-handling procedures and seek assistance from supervisors when unsure about proper procedures or equipment use.
  • Represent the university professionally when interacting with event guests, participants, faculty, staff, and other members of the campus community.
  • Learn and follow established IT and event support procedures while developing familiarity with A/V equipment, event technology, and customer service practices.
  • Work as part of the event support team by completing assigned tasks, following supervisor direction, and communicating questions or concerns as needed.
  • Assisting with classroom technology repair and maintenance
