About The Position

The Event Technician primarily works in the Clayton Performing Arts Center, Goins Building Auditorium, and other spaces on the Hardin Valley Campus. Events take place across all four campuses, so occasional travel may be expected. The position provides technical and functional support for events, scheduling, and box office operations, and works with internal and external clients to plan event production needs. On-the-job training is provided for sound and light board operations, scheduling software, and ticket sales software.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related work experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff to foster a cooperative working environment.
• Knowledge of sound and light board operations in a theatrical or event space and standard audio/video equipment.
• Experience with data-entry software and audio/video troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of wiring, reading wiring diagrams, audio reinforcement, and playback systems, and basic mechanical knowledge.
• Skills with word-processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

Nice To Haves

• Client management experience is beneficial.
• Specific experience in performing arts, including theatrical lighting, sound, and stage management.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for internal and external events, including audio/video equipment setup, testing, and teardown; operating lighting and sound boards and recording equipment; and backstage management.
• Provide functional support for scheduling college events, including data entry into the college scheduling software.
• Support box office operations, including selling tickets and processing ticket orders.
• Consult with internal and external clients to plan lighting, sound, media, and staffing requirements for events; attend meetings and rehearsals as needed to determine requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
