About The Position

5 STAR Event Services is hiring part-time Event Staff/Security Guards for Trail of Lights at Zilker Park and other events. Staff are responsible for the safety and comfort of clients, guests, and employees. The role includes security, guest services, entry screening, directing patrons, responding to complaints, and assisting with emergency procedures. Events take place in energetic, fast-paced environments, including crowded indoor and outdoor venues. Work may occur in the evening and on weekends, and outdoor events take place rain or shine.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Reliable means of communication and transportation.
• Texas Non-Commissioned Guard Card (Level II). Level II training and exam are provided for free; applicants must apply, pass the exam, submit to fingerprinting, and complete a criminal background check.
• Strong customer-service attitude and professional appearance.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to understand and interpret credentials, documents, signs, rules, policies, and instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, patrons, and other employees.
• Ability to multitask, cross-train, and learn new skills quickly.
• Ability to remain calm and level-headed in high-pressure situations.
• Full physical and mental dexterity, including the ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, hear, see, and speak English clearly.
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods for the duration of a shift.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds.
• Flexible availability for evening and weekend schedules.

Responsibilities

• Enforce and uphold the integrity of public and private venue areas.
• Monitor entry and exit points to designated areas of the venue.
• Search bags and screen guests, tickets, bags, and credentials before entry to prevent prohibited items from entering the venue.
• Greet and direct guests to seating areas and services.
• Maintain open access routes for pedestrian and vehicle walkways.
• Receive and respond to patron complaints according to policies and procedures.
• Enforce facility policies and procedures and report suspicious behavior or activity.
• Assist with directing an orderly evacuation during emergencies.
• Provide security escorts as required by event requirements.
