About The Position

Event Services Hosts work only during events at Newport Aquarium. The events calendar is published a month in advance so hosts can identify events that fit their schedules. Most events take place in the evening; weekly hours are not guaranteed, and the position offers flexibility around the host’s schedule. The role does not include event planning or related duties. Hosts support event operations, including equipment setup and teardown, touch tank coverage and interpretation, property screening, and event-related house, grounds, and custodial duties. They prepare event spaces, welcome and assist guests, help with metal detection and bag checks, and work with Newport Aquarium departments and the Sales Events team. Hosts are expected to follow company and aquarium values, guest service standards, policies, procedures, and safety protocols while maintaining a positive, professional presence and strong guest and team relations.
