About The Position

Rocky Top Catering partners with the University of North Carolina to provide dining and catering services for student-athletes, fans, and guests. The Event/Prep Cook supports daily meal service, athletic training table operations, and campus events, including football game days at Kenan Stadium. The role involves food preparation, cooking, setup, and service in varied culinary settings, with the possibility of preparing and serving food at interactive chef stations during UNC football games.

This is a part-time role, with the possibility of full-time hours during busy seasons. The position is based at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and pays $18–$21 based on experience.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and food safety.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
• Flexibility to work morning and midday shifts Monday through Friday, as well as occasional evenings, weekends, and UNC football game days based on event needs.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or carry kitchen supplies as required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous cooking or food preparation experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to recipes and food safety standards.
• Assist with daily meal preparation and service for UNC student-athletes.
• Support catering events, including buffet setup, replenishment, and breakdown.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and work environment.
• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures.
• Collaborate with chefs and culinary team members to ensure quality and timely service.
• Assist with special events and high-volume service as needed.
• Potentially operate interactive chef stations during UNC football games, preparing and serving food directly to guests and providing an engaging hospitality experience.
