About The Position

Groovin' Gourmets, the catering division of Trolley Hospitality Companies, provides chef-crafted catering and service for corporate functions, weddings, and social events in the Hampton Roads and greater Richmond regions. The Event Captain leads event teams and oversees event logistics, service, and guest communication. This part-time role offers flexible, occasional shifts, with shift availability varying by season.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of catering or banquet leadership experience.
• Valid driver's license and at least 3 years of safe driving experience.
• Comfort driving a 16-foot box truck and able to climb in and out of the vehicle.
• Experience leading a team, in food service or another industry.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Positive and empowering interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina to work long hours and ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport food, drinks, and equipment to event venues.
• Manage event setup, meal and beverage service, and takedown.
• Carry out the Sales Event Coordinator's event plan and adapt setup and service flow to different venues.
• Lead co-captains, servers, and bartenders.
• Communicate with the event host.
• Respond resourcefully and proactively to issues that arise.
• Create an environment that supports and develops team members.
• Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
