About The Position

Groovin' Gourmets, the catering division of Trolley Hospitality Companies, is hiring an Event Captain to lead catering events throughout Hampton Roads. The role oversees event setup, meal and beverage service, and breakdown, while carrying out the Sales Event Coordinator's plan and adapting service flow to different venues. The Event Captain leads co-captains, servers, and bartenders, communicates with event hosts, and responds proactively to issues. This is a seasonal, part-time opportunity with flexible scheduling and occasional shifts; event-shift availability varies by time of year. The role pays $22 per hour plus occasional tips.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of catering or banquet leadership experience.
• Valid driver's license and at least 3 years of safe driving experience.
• Comfort driving a 16-foot box truck and ability to climb in and out of the vehicle.
• Experience leading a team, in food service or another industry.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Positive and empowering interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina to work long hours and ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport food, drinks, and equipment to event venues.
• Manage event setup, meal and beverage service, and take-down.
• Carry out the Sales Event Coordinator's event plan and adapt to different venues when organizing setup and service flow.
• Lead co-captains, servers, and bartenders.
• Maintain good communication with the event host.
• Be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that arise.
• Create an environment that supports and develops team members.
• Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
