About The Position

Great Western Dining Service is hiring a Cook at its North Central Texas College location in Gainesville, Texas. The Cook prepares meals and must be able to follow instructions, move deftly around the kitchen, multitask, and use a variety of ingredients and cooking techniques. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 1–8 PM. The salary is $16–$18.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a cook.
• Knowledge of cooking procedures and methods such as grilling, baking, and boiling.
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment.
• Ability to follow sanitation procedures.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Very good communication skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, and use other means of mobility continuously for up to 8 hours a day.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, and pull, and frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping and peeling vegetables and cutting meat.
• Prepare, portion, and cook food for various meal periods or special events.
• Follow basic recipes and production information.
• Dress dishes before serving to ensure good presentation.
• Maintain a sanitized and orderly kitchen.
• Store food and other items properly.
• Follow company HACCP and safety policies.
