About The Position

This is an applicant pool for part-time Ethnic Studies Associate Instructor positions for the 2026-2027 academic year. The role requires instructors to have a strong understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Requirements

  • Master’s in the ethnic studies field; OR
  • Master’s in American Studies/Ethnicity, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Central American Studies, Latin American Studies, Cross Cultural Studies, Race and Ethnic Relations, Asian-American Studies, or African-American Studies; OR
  • Master’s in one of the disciplines included in the interdisciplinary area and upper division or graduate course work in at least one other constituent discipline; OR
  • the equivalent.
  • Applicants who do not possess the EXACT degree major(s) required to meet the minimum qualifications must attach an equivalency narrative and supporting documentation at the time of application.
  • If your degree major is similar/related to but slightly different from the majors listed above, please request equivalency – this would include degrees in Chicana and Chicano Studies, Black Studies, Native American Studies, and American Indian Studies.
  • a fully satisfied, lifetime California Community College credential authorizing instruction/service in the appropriate subject matter; AND
  • have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
