About The Position

Trillium Health Partners (THP) is seeking a talented and passionate individual to join the Regional Ethics Program as an Ethicist. This role supports ethical, evidence-based decision-making across the organization, from direct patient care to strategic planning. The Regional Ethics Program operates on a 'hub and spoke' model, with THP serving as the 'hub' and other regional healthcare organizations as 'spokes' purchasing services. The Ethicist will work collaboratively across these entities to facilitate and support ethical decision-making by identifying, analyzing, and resolving ethical issues. This is a permanent, full-time position within the Quality, Risk & Patient Experience department.

Requirements

• Doctorate or Masters Degree in ethics or equivalent field
• Post-graduate fellowship training in clinical and organizational ethics
• Professional experience in a clinical setting
• Skills in ethics leadership, communication, consulting, teaching, facilitation/mediation, relationship and team building
• Eligible to work in Canada

Responsibilities

• Leading and driving ethics initiatives.
• Providing direct and indirect support to clinical, research, and organizational practice.
• Identifying ethics needs of the organization and developing specific goals and plans to support achievement of those goals.
• Establishing and providing accessible and comprehensive consultation services to staff, patients, and their families.
• Supporting and actively participating in relevant organizational committees and working groups.
• Providing comprehensive ethics education and resources to staff, patients and families, students, and the public.
• Facilitating development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines that align with the values of the organization and reflect current ethical standards.
• Supporting the THP Research Ethics Board, as needed.
• Participating in the ongoing development of the field of ethics through activities such as quality improvement, research, and professionalization initiatives.
