About The Position
Intren West is actively seeking experienced Estimators to support our continued growth across utility construction, infrastructure, and energy delivery projects. We are looking for professionals who bring a strong command of cost analysis, bid preparation, and project scoping—individuals who can confidently partner with operations, engineering, and clients to deliver accurate, competitive, and strategic estimates. Requirements
- Mid‑Level Estimator: 3–5+ years of estimating experience
- Growing responsibility in bid development and project scoping
- Familiarity with utility or civil construction environments
- Senior Estimator: 7–10+ years of estimating experience
- Proven ability to lead bids and mentor junior staff
- Experience influencing pursuit strategy and pricing decisions
Nice To Haves
- Experience with electric distribution, transmission, gas, or underground utility work.
- Experience with platforms such as HeavyBid, B2W, or similar estimating systems.
- Prior field or project management exposure supporting constructability insight.
- Ability to build complex cost models and scenario analyses.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead for utility construction and related infrastructure projects.
- Compile bid packages, perform quantity takeoffs, and ensure all scope elements are accurately captured.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and drawings to identify cost drivers, constructability issues, and potential risks.
- Work closely with project managers, field leadership, engineering teams, and clients to clarify scope and support bid strategy.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Conduct cost comparisons, historical cost reviews, and value‑engineering assessments.
- Maintain organized estimate files, assumptions, and supporting documentation for internal and client review.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates, and workflows.
