About The Position

The Electrical Estimator prepares construction estimates for underground and overhead distribution, transmission, and substation projects for submission to clients. The role involves understanding project requirements, visiting jobsites, attending pre-bid walks, estimating labor, equipment, and materials, managing subcontractor quotes, developing manpower resource schedules, and reviewing bids with project management, contract administration, and estimating throughout the project lifecycle.

After a project is awarded, the estimator assists contract administration with creating a budget based on the bid estimate, working with contract administration and operations to finalize the construction budget. The estimator also supports operations in planning and preparing change-order requests when requested by project management.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of estimating experience.
• Post-secondary education in a business administration-related discipline, such as management, accounting, or finance, or equivalent work experience.
• Good written and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex estimate issues.
• Good problem-solving abilities and the ability to evaluate data.
• Good computer skills and the ability to learn multiple estimating and scheduling programs.
• Ability to follow company policies.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Sage Timberline Estimating, and Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

• Review and summarize projects for bidding.
• Attend pre-bid job walks and conduct site investigations.
• Prepare project estimates for labor, equipment, and materials.
• Prepare resource-driven project schedules as requested by clients.
• Assist project managers with preparing change-order requests.
• Analyze and understand bid documents and construction drawings.
• Prepare takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment, and gather subcontractor quotes.
• Manage subcontractor submittals.
• Submit quote requests for materials.
• Assist contract administration and operations in developing and finalizing post-award construction budgets.
