About The Position

We’re hiring an Estimator with millwork experience to support the front end of high-end custom projects. In this role, you’ll create accurate, well-organized bid proposals, interpret architectural drawings, and partner closely with clients, designers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure clarity from initial inquiry through handoff to Production. Success in this role requires technical precision, strong communication, disciplined follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple fast-moving scopes at once. You’ll have the opportunity to grow within a collaborative estimating department while deepening your expertise in materials, construction methods, and millwork systems.

Requirements

  • 2+ years estimating experience in millwork, finish carpentry, or related construction trades
  • Ability to read and interpret residential and light commercial architectural drawings
  • Experience with custom home construction, architectural or engineering backgrounds, or an equivalent technical basis of knowledge
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong mathematical and geometric competency
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and client-facing communication skills
  • Strong organization, detail orientation, and ability to manage multiple bids at once
  • Working knowledge of lumber, plywood, mouldings, and custom millwork materials
  • Professional, courteous, punctual, and committed to exceptional service

Nice To Haves

  • Good working knowledge of wood frame construction preferred
  • Ability to express ideas graphically through hand sketches, SketchUp, or AutoCAD strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build detailed, accurate estimates for custom millwork packages
  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, and RFPs to understand full project scope
  • Conduct takeoffs and input labor and material cost units with precision
  • Prepare clear scope write-ups, assumptions, clarifications, and qualifications
  • Flag design conflicts, missing information, and potential risk areas early
  • Reconcile estimates with previous budgets and verify internal accuracy
  • Maintain organized documentation, detail callouts, and internal notes
  • Serve as a responsive, professional point of contact for clients, designers, and vendors during the bid phase
  • Ask targeted questions and generate RFIs to ensure scope clarity
  • Present scope and pricing in ways that are clean, clear, and digestible
  • Send proposals with polished written communication and strong value messaging
  • Demonstrate a solutions-oriented approach when clients lack detail by offering sketches, suggestions, or workable options
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth handoff from Estimating to Production
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and project reviews as required
  • Capture and communicate site conditions or constraints that may affect pricing
  • Support the Production Team by preparing accurate change orders when needed
