About The Position

Rycon Construction is an employee-owned company (ESOP) that provides construction management, general contracting, design-build, and program management services nationwide. An ENR Top 400 Contractor, ENR Top 100 Green Contractor, and BD+C Top 150 Contractor with nine offices, Rycon specializes in new construction, renovations, and adaptive reuse projects. Rycon’s portfolio includes projects in aviation, healthcare, higher education, industrial/warehouse, commercial, multi-unit residential, student housing, food service/dining, data centers/mission critical, retail, financial, self-storage, government/municipality, and LEED facilities. We have an in-house Architectural Finishes & Specialty Fabrication Division that ships/installs nationally. We are seeking an experienced Estimator for our Building Group at our Pittsburgh office.

Requirements

  • The ability to read project drawings and interpret specifications.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years estimating or operations experience on construction projects ranging up to $200 million.
  • Experience performing quantity take-offs.
  • Experience leading or supporting a project estimating team.
  • Computer skills required – Microsoft Project, OST, MC2, Planswift, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Relevant experience in new construction and/or renovations of commercial office, health care, multi-unit residential, higher education and retail buildings.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Pittsburgh market preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Preform documentation review and quantity take-offs.
  • Research material, labor, and equipment pricing.
  • Participate in gathering of data to support market condition research, inclusive of, but not limited to: construction market trends, current projects, contractor's availability, skill sets, labor force, and other miscellaneous contributions on aspects of construction cost and performance.
  • Calculate researched data into specific cost estimating software programs.
  • Develop trade specific scopes of work for projects to align with project documentation and investigation.
  • Lead and/or support the estimating team with cost and trade scope analysis in a clear understandable format.
  • Respond to common inquiries or issues from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business and general community at large.
