Requirements

  • Diploma, degree, or applicable level of post-secondary education related to this field.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, and Google Maps.
  • Industry and/or construction knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to complete work accurately and efficiently.
  • Effective time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Motivated and self-driven.

Responsibilities

  • Review tender documents (drawings, specifications, consultant reports, addenda) to determine applicable scope for the company.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of project requirements and key deliverables.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed quantity take-offs using Excel or similar estimating tools.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s operational workflow from project initiation to closeout to ensure accurate capture of scope items and cost components in bids.
  • Build project estimates based on historical productivity data, crew outputs, labor rates, and equipment costs.
  • Identify and quantify direct and indirect costs, including labor, materials, equipment, overheads, and contingency.
  • Prepare cost breakdowns and proposal letters for submission.
  • Coordinate with the operations team to validate execution methods, equipment choices, site logistics, and work sequencing.
  • Analyze tender documentation for risks, exclusions, and assumptions, and flag critical issues for internal review.
  • Clarify scope discrepancies and confirm all required inclusions are captured in pricing.
  • Participate in post-bid reviews, interviews, and clarifications with clients and consultants.
  • Collaborate with other teams (e.g., engineers) to obtain up-to-date rates, confirm scope coverage, and integrate their deliverables into the estimate.
  • Prepare clear and structured handover packages for the project delivery team, including estimate breakdowns, key assumptions, and productivity expectations.
  • Search for bids.
