About The Position

This position is contingent on funding and student enrollment for the ESP Discovery Club/Access 21 Stand Alone Program, serving students in grades 5-12. The program runs from July 6, 2026, to July 30, 2025, with specific work hours depending on the assigned school location (Nettle Middle School or Haverhill High School). Trainings will occur in June. The role involves assisting in the planning and implementation of project-based learning units, incorporating Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) practices, and ensuring clear communication of standards for student work, effort, and behavior. The position also requires participation in program evaluation, accompanying students on field trips, and utilizing technology for program activities. The employee will report to the Director of Out-of-School Time Programming and the Assistant Director of Out-of-School Time Programming. The role also includes other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or their designees, adhering to Haverhill School Committee policies. The position requires working the specified hours during the summer school days.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent
  • CPR and First Aid Certified - Required per 21st CCLC Grants
  • Technological proficiency using HPS credentials to access Google Suite including Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Documents and Spreadsheets, and Google Meets.
  • Must work the required hours during the summer school days.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of project-based learning units (e.g., Farm to Table, Fishing and Ecosystems, Outdoor Art and Gardening, Outdoor Recreation & Healthy Living, Rock Band, Glee Club).
  • Participate in pre-program training, including asynchronous online orientation and an All-Staff Meeting via Google Meet.
  • Participate in in-person Professional Development specific to the assigned unit.
  • Incorporate Social and Emotional Learning practice in daily activities to guide students in identifying strengths, interests, and needs; asking for support; taking academic risks; and challenging themselves.
  • Clearly communicate and consistently enforce specific standards for student work, effort, and behavior.
  • Effectively model and reinforce ways students can master challenging material through effective effort.
  • Assist with program evaluation by administering the Survey of Academic and Youth Outcomes and using collected data to inform planning and instruction.
  • Accompany students on field trips.
  • Utilize technological proficiency with HPS credentials to access Google Suite (Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Documents and Spreadsheets, Google Meets).
  • Perform other duties as indicated by the Superintendent of Schools or designees, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
  • Work the required hours during the summer school days.
