About The Position

The ESL Filling Operator sets up, operates, maintains, and cleans sterile Extended Shelf Life (ESL) filling equipment. The role helps ensure ESL products are packaged in a hygienic, tightly controlled environment and meet Publix and regulatory quality standards. Duties include monitoring product and packaging quality, maintaining sterility in the equipment and filling area, cleaning and sanitizing equipment and the filling room, documenting production and sanitation activities, performing laboratory tests and weight-control monitoring, and completing minor repairs and preventive maintenance. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Demonstrate excellent work habits consistent with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Have excellent safety work habits.
Have a good understanding of sanitation practices and principles, including manual and automated cleaning.
Have mechanical aptitude and demonstrate mechanical abilities.
Be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
Be able to lift up to 50+ pounds repetitively.
Be able to learn and perform all positions.
Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Have excellent attendance and punctuality.
Be able to obtain a license and operate a forklift.
Be able to perform basic math and have basic computer skills.
Be able to maintain a sterile workstation and perform steady, productive work for extended periods.
Be able to work efficiently with little or no supervision and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
Be willing to assist team members in other areas.
Have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others as a team member.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, maintain, and clean sterile ESL filling equipment.
Monitor caps, codes, weights, and carton integrity, and taste products for quality.
Maintain the sterility of ESL filling and conveying equipment and the ESL filling area.
Maintain a hygienic, tightly controlled environment for packaging ESL products.
Disassemble and reassemble fillers and associated equipment for cleaning, ensuring equipment is safe and sterile.
Manually clean equipment in the ESL packaging area and clean the filling-room environment.
Operate and document daily CIP and equipment sterilization activities.
Operate floor-cleaning and scrubbing equipment.
Accurately record daily production data and regulatory information, and verify results are within established control limits.
Perform laboratory tests and monitor product weight control.
Produce quality products in accordance with Publix and regulatory standards.
Perform minor repairs, preventive maintenance, and mechanical adjustments as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
