About The Position

This role assists in the execution of the safety component of an Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) Program, covering both technical and administrative aspects. The position involves preparing and implementing Safety and Health Management Plans, associated plans, procedures, and training programs. The ES&H Representative provides input to various project groups, including Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, and Commissioning, to ensure safety and health requirements are integrated into project planning and execution. This role interprets safety and health requirements, offers assistance with plan preparation, risk assessment, and ESH program execution. It also involves researching moderately complex issues and regulatory requirements, preparing documentation and reports, and supporting safety studies, risk assessments, and program reviews and audits. The representative will participate in emergency response, incident investigation, and resolution, and will interface and communicate with stakeholders to resolve concerns. Additionally, the role includes conducting ESH inspections and monitoring to identify hazards and risks, evaluate controls and corrective actions, and assess compliance with contract, regulatory, and project requirements.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Specialized knowledge in a safety specialty (e.g., Personal Protective Equipment, lockout/tagout, fall protection, excavation, People Based Safety) or engineering (e.g., civil, process safety, mechanical) or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of safety management, monitoring programs, principles, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of safety and health laws and regulations and applicable agencies' permitting processes and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of engineering, construction, and subcontract work processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a specialized scientific field (e.g., safety, industrial engineering, public health) or process/mechanical engineering and/or some practical work experience in the discipline performing the responsibilities listed above.

Responsibilities
