About The Position

Responsible for providing program leadership and day-to-day coordination for Spelman College’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) modernization initiative, including the migration from Ellucian Banner to Workday. The ERP Program Manager will coordinate the integrated work of campus leaders, functional offices, Enterprise Technology Services, implementation partners, and other vendors to support a successful transition. This position facilitates effective upward, downward, and lateral communication; organizes decision-making and issue resolution; and manages program scope, budget, schedule, quality, risks, dependencies, resources, and vendor performance. The role maintains the program’s governance, plans, documentation, reporting, and controls from design and configuration through testing, deployment, stabilization, and closeout, while supporting Spelman’s objective of adopting modern, effective business practices rather than recreating legacy Banner processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience required, however a minimum of four (4) years of direct project management and leadership experience required.
  • Must have experience with project management software tools, preferably in higher education.
  • Must be able to adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions and handle multiple.
  • Must have the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines is essential.
  • Must have knowledge of project management methodology and familiarity with major project management approaches and tools.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills are required).
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and follow up skills.
  • Must possess strong customer service skills, phone and e-mail etiquette.
  • Ability to conduct extensive research for the purpose of problem solving and situation analysis.
  • Must have intermediate skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and be internet savvy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet and other project management applications and programs associated with the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of in IT project management preferred.
  • Familiarity with agile project management techniques and experience developing project portfolios preferred.
  • Experience with project management software tools, preferably in higher education.
  • Program management and/or Workday implementation certification or training is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides program management leadership for the Banner-to-Workday migration and related ERP workstreams across Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, Student, data, integrations, reporting, security, testing, change management, and deployment.
  • Develops, maintains, and manages the integrated program charter, scope, work plan, budget, schedule, milestones, dependencies, resource plan, quality plan, risk register, issue log, decision log, and communications plan.
  • Facilitates effective upward, downward, and lateral communication among executive sponsors, the ERP Steering Committee, functional leaders, project teams, campus stakeholders, implementation partners, and vendors.
  • Plans and facilitates governance, steering committee, workstream, decision, risk, and status meetings; ensures the appropriate stakeholders participate and that agendas, materials, decisions, action items, owners, and due dates are documented and followed through to completion.
  • Produces clear, timely, audience-appropriate program status reports, dashboards, executive briefings, and escalations that communicate progress, decisions needed, budget status, risks, issues, dependencies, and readiness.
  • Influence without relying solely on formal authority; negotiate effectively; and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, facilitation, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, written and verbal communication, time management, and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, discretion, and customer service are essential.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and project, portfolio, scheduling, collaboration, and reporting tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or comparable applications.
