About The Position

The Equipment Set-up Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating machine set-up operations and equipment readiness to support efficient, compliant and high-quality production. This role ensures that manufacturing equipment is properly installed, configured and maintained to meet production demands, while driving consistency in set-up processes and adherence to regulatory standards and preventative maintenance process. This position plays a critical role in bridging New Product Introduction (NPI) and Operations by supporting the implementation, qualification and ramp-up of new machinery and technologies. The Machine Set-up Supervisor partners cross-functionally with Engineering, NPI, Quality and Operations teams to ensure successful equipment integration, process readiness and scalable manufacturing performance.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years supervisory experience required
  • 3-5 years of experience in machine setup or similar role; experience working with braiding, coiling and related manufacturing equipment
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Leadership and team development skills
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability

  • Technical aptitude and process knowledge
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise and varying temperatures

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily machine set-up activities across production lines (e.g., Braiders, coilers, laser welders, or automation equipment).
  • Prioritize and schedule set-ups to meet production demands, customer delivery timelines, and capacity plans.
  • Partner closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and NPI teams to ensure seamless transitions between jobs and product phases.
  • Act as a hands-on leader, stepping in to perform machine set-ups and operate equipment as needed to support production requirements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure continuity of operations.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient machine set-ups, including tooling, fixturing, programming verification, and first-piece validation.
  • Troubleshoot set-up and process issues, escalating complex challenges as needed.
  • Support validation activities including IQ/OQ/PQ and process transfers from NPI to production.
  • Own the full lifecycle of manufacturing equipment, including initial set-up, qualification, preventative maintenance, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead equipment readiness efforts to ensure machines are properly installed, configured, and capable of meeting production and quality requirements.
  • Establish and maintain standard work for equipment set-up, operation, and changeovers to ensure consistency and repeatability.
  • Own and oversee the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program for manufacturing equipment, ensuring timely execution and documentation of all scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve PM procedures to maximize equipment uptime, reliability, and performance.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering teams to address equipment issues, reduce unplanned downtime, and support root cause analysis.
  • Ensure maintenance records are accurate, audit-ready, and compliant with quality system requirements.
  • Support calibration activities and ensure equipment is maintained in a validated state.
  • Collaborate with the NPI and Engineering teams to support the introduction of new machinery, equipment, and technologies into the manufacturing environment.
  • Lead or support machine set-up development for new programs, including tooling trials, process development runs, and equipment qualification.
  • Ensure new equipment is production-ready through proper set-up documentation, standard work creation, and operator training.
  • Provide hands-on expertise during equipment installation, commissioning, and ramp-up phases to ensure successful integration into operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
